Who Should Be Kraft Hockeyville 2011?

Belleville’s Memorial Arena didn’t make top ten for CBC’s Kraft Hockeyville 2011.  I am not sure why we didn’t make it, there could be many reasons.  We had the nomination and the needed amount of facebook supporters; double both of the Ontario Winners; Navan and Wolfe Island.
I assisted the Memorial Arena in Kraft Hockeyville 2011 because I have known of the arenas problems and I truly think it will not be around to enter into Kraft Hockeyville 2012.  I joined support just over a week ago and brought more than 100 “facebook likes” to CBC’s Kraft Hockeyville site in support of the Memorial Arena.
I was going to give up with Kraft Hockeyville 2011, but there were some touching stories I had heard.
I post on Kraft Hockeyville’s Facebook page “the question is who will I assist with my vote?”.  I thank Fort Nelson BC, for being the first to comment; you will receive votes because of it.  I thank, Mackenzie, BC for being the second to comment, I am sorry but I can’t vote more than once.  I would like to say to Mackenzie, BC that is was a good fight for the most facebook support, but I guess it didn’t matter, Good luck anyways.
Good Luck to every arena in the top ten for Kraft Hockeyville 2011, but I have to send my support to WOLFE ISLAND, ON.   Wolfe Island I am honoured to lend you my experience on social media to your campaign to become KRAFT HOCKEYVILLE 2011.  I will get the support of Belleville, Ontario behind you, and the votes have already starting, congratulation again.
I am sorry Fort Nelson & Mackenzie BC the reason I chose Wolfe Island, and why I think they should be Kraft Hockeyville 2011 are;
They need a roof (They Play with no roof), they play on a lake (in,2011?), they are in Ontario, and it would be much easier for me to travel there.  Wolfe Island story touched me and it’s closest to home, I ask everyone else reading to vote for Wolfe Island, Ontario.

What Have You Done for Your City Lately?

The Belleville Memorial Arena located in downtown Belleville Ontario has had its problems.  The arena is the second oldest arena in the world and has developed millions of memories with thousands of people over the years.  Named the Hume Arena, Home of the Mac Farlands, and renamed the Memorial Arena in 1946, is only a small amount of the history that has come out of this building.
I have never played hockey in the Memorial Arena, or played on one of its many hockey teams, but I myself have grown up in this building.  The arena was almost like a second home to me.  My mother had held a career at the arena long before I had been born, and the job was one of my mother’s first part-time jobs as a youth.  She enjoyed the job and it became a career for her, so the staff had became like family.  My mother was a single parent and my brother and I had often had to go to work with her.  We had spent a lot of time in that arena for that reason and time passed by so fast before I knew it, I had even obtained one of my first jobs at the arena.   The staff at that arena provided me some of my longest life-time friends.
Currently, the Belleville Memorial Arena has been entered in to a competition.  You can read about the competition in an order post titled “Belleville is Kraft Hockeyville”.  I volunteered to assist the arena in the campaign to win the competition.  The arena could really use the reward to repair its floor; the floor has had problems in the past couple years and is 80+ years old.  The arena isn’t currently being used for that reason.
Saturday March 5, 2011, I assisted with the rally to show Belleville as Kraft Hockeyville 2011, assisting with the rally was not easy.  It rained all day, which made setting up and tearing down a cold one but we had made the best of it.  I would say the day was a success overall.  We had some honourable people show up, such as the Crawford family, the respectable Memorial Arena staff, and a few local business owners in the area, along with all of the amazing volunteers & general public.
In my opinion I would to have liked see a better turn out.  The day ended up a good day of networking and fun.  There was a good amount of public that dressed in hockey attire for the costume contest, which happened during the opening ceremonies.  The day continued into the Memorial arena where the children had played some hockey with mini sticks and everyone enjoyed Kraft Food products, such as Kraft Dinner, hot dogs, and coffee.  Also available were clothing items for sale in support of the Memorial Arena, such as jerseys, t-shirts, and hats.
To support the memorial and vote for the arena in the Kraft Hockeyville competition, voting lines open March 8 – 13.  You can call 1-866-533-8066 and follow the voice automated prompts, or you can vote at www.krafthockeyville.ca.  You can also follow the competition at BMAPS (Belleville Memorial Arena Perservation Society) blog site which I created for their members.
Video will be added here in couple days.

Experience with Roland Thunder Motorcycle Clothing

Roland Thunder is located at 74 King St. in downtown Trenton, Ontario.  For almost a year Roland Thunder has been open in Trenton providing quality motorcycle gear.  The business looks to be doing well as you can watch the variety of products grow.  All his products are available at the store front in Trenton, Ontario.  Roland welcomes all to visit his business.  He also has appearances at bike shows around the area.
The store offers much more than just motorcycle gear, like Helmets, jackets, gloves, boots, motorcycles and more.   There are also guitars, T-shirts and clothing of all sizes plus others.  In my opinion, it is just best to go and check out what is there.  There are so many amazing products there you need to see them for yourself.  The store is open Wednesday – Sunday, at 74 King St.
I personally know Roland, he is a friendly local business owner.   He always accepts new customers even if they only have a question.  He enjoys riding motorcycles himself and I would say is knowledgeable about the subject, which led him to create this business and offer quality motorcycle gear for good prices.  If he can’t provide something for you, he most likely can help you find what you are looking for.
If have never ridden a motorcycle before and are interested or if you just need some products he is a good person to go talk to.  He enjoys interesting others in riding and looks to increase the amount of motorcycle riders in the area.  Anyone interested please visit Roland Thunder.
Roland Thunder is looking into expanding to another location, possible in the Ajax area; stay tuned for that information later.
you can also find Roland Thunder on facebook.

Support Belleville is Kraft Hockeyville in March.

The Belleville Memorial Arena has been entered into the Kraft Hockeyville contest, which was created by CBC in 2006.  The Hockeyville contest has four rounds. We have been nominated (which was round one) and now are in the second round of the completition.  Belleville Memorial Arena can use all the support they can get.
BMAPS (Belleville Memorial Arena Preservation Society) is hosting a rally to support Belleville in the Kraft Hockeyville contest.  The rally will be at Market Square, downtown Belleville, on March 5 from 11 AM till 1 PM.  You can find more information about the rally and what is happening at the BMAPS blog site.  http://www.bmaps.blogspot.com/

The Belleville arena is one of 101 other arenas entered into the competition in Ontario.  The third and fourth rounds need your votes to support the arena.  The competition is tight and the winning vote could be yours, so help make Belleville Kraft Hockeyville 2011, with your support it can happen.   It is currently the second round but that will end in a week and Belleville will need your votes, to continue to the fourth round and compete for the grand prize.  For more info about the contest visit; http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/hockeyville/rules/en/index.shtml

I will personally be stopping by to see how it is going and check out the contest.   I think it would be great for our city to win this national competition, which is why I show my support in this competition and ask that you would too.  The event downtown will help the local Gleaners Food Bank and be a live broadcast so the more support the better and we can show CBC, ‘BELLEVILLE IS KRAFT HOCKEVILLE’.
