Blogger Report: Save a Belleville, Ontario Landmark !!

The Memorial Arena in Belleville, Ontario is a landmark to the locals.  In my opinion, it should be a Canadian landmark.
The Memorial Arena was built in 1929, and was home of the Belleville Mac Farlands.  The history behind this building in Belleville is huge, from it's millions of visitors, all the way back to its renaming in 1946.  In 1946, the Hume Arena was renamed the Memorial Arena.  This arena was the home rink of some of our greatest OHL, and NHL players.
The Memorial Arena is the second oldest arena in the world, located in Belleville, Ontario Canada.  The Oldest Arena is in Cambridge, Ontario, also in Canada.  The Galt Arena was opened in 1922, in Cambridge, Ontario, Canada.  Both arenas still function today, although the Memorial Arena is having problems and there is talk of closing it down and ruin it historically.  Both Arenas should be made Canadian landmarks and should be protected for those reasons.
Need more reasons to help save the Memorial Arena? There are plenty.
There are ways we can Support the Memorial Arena.
Kraft Hockeyville has a campaign running at the moment.  You could have submitted a post about memories you have at the different building but the posted were closed as of January 30, 2011.  Now is the important part, we need to vote on the arena that should win to get $ 100,000, we need to vote for the Memorial Arena in Belleville, Ontario.
Voting Starts March 8th, Be Ready Please.
Although the Memorial Arena may need more than $ 100,000 dollars to be made a state of the art sports arena, it is a good start to keeping it around forever.  We need to bring awareness to this issue and fast.
We Need As Much Support As Possible.  Please Join this on Facebook.

Blogger Report: Bearcats Are Looking To Increase Their Pack Size

The Belleville Bearcats are always welcoming others.  The Belleville Bearcats are a non for-profit organization that provides females of all ages the chance to participate in all aspects of ice hockey.   The Belleville Bearcats  Hockey invites all ages with many division from novice A to senior A.
The teams are always looking to increase in size by always looking for new members for all divisions.  The Bearcats are friendly, nice people that play competitively in tournaments against other teams from across Ontario.  The organization provides the team with training, practices, tournaments, and enjoyment.
I have always promoted sports for youth, as it always will provide more to their life than just a sport they play.  Adult Sports are also important but youth need it more in some communities, in my opinion.  I highly promote the Belleville Bearcats Rep Hockey for any females, any age to look into the Bearcats.
The most important thing is that this organization would not be available to the public if it was not for their volunteers.   I thank them all for providing this service.  The most important part of this blog is the Bearcats will always be looking for more volunteers, so please if you are interested contact them. They will always need volunteers.

Blogger Report: Twittens, Hands Need Them !!

First, I have to say, I like the name (Twitter + mittens), nice.
A friend I met in my Business Admin. Class last year, had come up to me and had shown me this product he had and his company was selling.  I got looking at them and I’m going order three pairs, I didn’t need to think much about it.  Good idea, new work.
The gloves say enough for themselves, I do think they are an amazing idea.  They have a Facebook pages ( Twitten ), in the info it says “the gloves of the text generation “
I think they would be useful even if you don’t text, but I think they would be key for people that do text.
Also, a great idea for a x-mas gift.  The gloves are only 19.99 CND
The product made it way to the Toronto star and explains the story more if you would like to know more. The article is “Twittens deliver frostbite-free texting” published Dec. 6 2010.
In my opinion the gloves still say enough themselves. So please check them out.  Here is the website: Twittens.ca
You can follow them on Twitter, too. @Twittens_ca

Blogger Report: Please Help a Local Charity

I have a favour to ask of everyone in the local area.
While I was out doing my work from Loyalist PR, I was working on a media kit.  When I got stuck I turn to the local Canadian Cancer Society for help as I knew they had most like done many media kits.  While, I ran into something amazing and it reinforces what I was saying in my blog "It’s taking over the world,.....”.
I was amazed and the Canadian Cancer Society had not known about it and I had shown them it and now are looking into it.  A couple days later, I checked-in again and I get a tweet on twitter from @checkinforacure thanking me for check-in.
So my favour I ask to all with a phone, even if it’s the only reason you use Foursquare, please go check-in at the Canadian Cancer Society on 97 Hanna Court South in Belleville, Ontario and stop in and say hi, they are friends people and the check-in is for a great cause and will help the fight against cancer.

For the whole list of check-in locations, click here.

Blogger Report: Belleville’s Most Troubled Community

There are buildings in Belleville owned by Belleville's Hastings Housing.  Belleville's Hastings Housing is a government owned organization.  Belleville's Hastings Housing provides houses for low incomes families to help them with their rent.
When my girlfriend and I had our child and we had gotten this house, it was perfect being down the road from Loyalist College and is right across the street from Loyalist’s off campus housing because we both are attending college at Loyalist.
I had moved to the Elgin & Tripp St. complexes a few years ago.  When we had moved here the neighbourhood was a thousand times worse.  I can recall waking up in the morning, seeing people over-doseing in the park, as I watched the flies swarm the park because it’s was nothing but a litter box for the neighbourhoods stray animals, this is all well I stood there and counted the amount of dead animals laying in the ditches.
The pathetic part of these complexes are that they are for “low income families”, yet I still see people living here without kids in them, when I moved in here, I could swear there were more houses filled with dope plants than there were houses filled with kids.  Most the kids that are here are not being taken care of.  I have seen and heard; 3 year olds, tell their parents off, and use the play equipment as a washroom, or even gang beaten by other groups of kids.
The complex is the only complex that builds a fence around their dumpster to keep the people out, which in the summer it gets so bad you can’t open your windows or even sit outside because it smells like the Belleville dump.  Not to mention the whole town comes and unloads truckloads full of garbage into parking lot beside the dumpster.
Last year the complex started to clean up after the raid on one of the houses, and they pulled fifty something millions dollars of heroin plus plants out of a house where kids didn’t even live.
In the last two week there has been countless brake and enters in the area, and I think housing need to step up and kick the criminals out.  These building are for families not criminals, I know families that have been waiting almost ten years to get into these building, so stop housing the criminals.
In my opinion and now tell me if i am wrong?Belleville's Hastings Housing should be a privilege not a last resort, a shelter can do the same things for these criminals and not let them grow their dope indoors, and rob others while they do it.
Belleville's Hastings Housing
Should Smarten Up!!!!!!!!

Blogger Report: Directions Unlimited's CEO

Roberta Denyes

CEO, Management
Directions Unlimited
Belleville, Ontario

In a newly created company, Roberta Denyes works hard as CEO, and management of her  business called Directions Unlimited, A small business that helps other entrepreneurs to pursue their dreams of starting a business.  Working on brainstorming, setting goals, giving directions, planning a profitable marketing strategy and teaching others social media, Denyes is focused on being a good leader and giving others direction in their lives.  Denyes also never gives up on education, taking in everything she can get to improve her knowledge.

“You never really know where you’re going to end up, but unless you get your foot in the door, you will not be able to find the direction you should be going in.” Denyes said.  After moving around the world and working in different financial industries, Denyes had found her calling back in Canada, after getting her GED (General Equivalency Diploma), than BBA (Bachelors of Business Administration), and ABC (Aboriginal Business Certificate).  She found her calling as it came in the form of leadership, when she started the Fredericton Native Friendship Center, leading others and giving them direction.

Her biggest achievement was establishing a Board of Directors run by youth to develop a youth program. During which she met great leaders that she would always feel encouraged by their leadership in their communities.  “My career goal is to develop a business that offers advice and leadership to small business entrepreneurs. My success will be when I witness a business grow into something great.” said Denyes.

After my interview with Denyes, I recommend anyone in need to check it out on facebook: Directions Unlimited.

Bloggers Report: Youth Darts Needs Members

Not being recognized as an actual sport, with no funding, Belleville youth darts is trying to stay alive with few children/youth and is in need of more members.  The memberships of children/youth are the only thing keeping this non-for-profit organization open and running.  Each year fewer children sign up and the numbers are shrinking.
Belleville and District Youth Darts starts every Sunday at 10 am, bottom floor, at the Royal Canadian Legion (132 Pinnacle, Belleville).   Accepts all children/youth ages 7-18, to come and have a good day.  The league offers them to play darts, make some friends and socialize for a few hours on Sunday.  If a successful player, they can have many opportunities for tournaments and events.
I highly recommend this for all children and youth just for the experience and skills you gain from the organization.  I can almost guarantee your child will be good at math if successful in darts, and a good sportsman.  I joined darts when I was eleven and played until I was seventeen, darts provided me with some of my greatest memories and most of my life time friends.  NDFC, is the National Dart Foundation of Canada which can provide them many opportunities to play all over the world, if successful at the tournaments.  Belleville darts needs the trophy to come home again. Go out and enjoy yourself.

Bloggers Report: Experience with Community Partners for Success.

Community Partners for Success, in Belleville, Ontario is an organization for parents to go alone or with their children to learn parent skills, socialize, and have fun with others in the community.  One of the many organizations I have been involved in the community.   The Organizations has help me in more ways than parenting as I was a teen parents, I also volunteered there.  Many of the skills I have leant there I use every day, as well as the people I've met are some of my life time friends.
Parenting can be hard and I believe it’s not only a parent or parents that raise a child, but a whole community. Organizations like this help make it easier for parents, they also can’t survive without support from their community, please check out the Community Partners for Success, Belleville, Ontario.  If you’re in the local area, visit.  Located at 41 Octavia St., Belleville.

Supporting Belleville and My Local Community

Growing up in a small town of less then 49 000 people, Belleville was and still is not to thrilling.  My mother had been involved with many non-for-profit orgainizations when I was young and helped out at public schools, which she did because she enjoyed  volunteering to do things.  I had got my interest for this line of work by assisting her with many of those tasks.
If it wasn’t for some of the organizations I may not be where I am today, and many other people in the local area of Belleville do use the orgainization in their everyday lives but they could always use more.  For the organizations I have personally been involved with I would like to do a Bloggers Report on them so I hope you take the time to read all future Blogger Report’s, comment and look into the organizations.  Belleville's organizations need all the help they can get.
